Our Review (2010)
Wolford Individual 10 Tights were one of the very first styles that we looked at when we started reviewing hosiery. It is 3 years since we last looked at a pair, and that was one that had been in our archive since 2002 so when a new pair arrived from MyTights we were delighted to be able to take a look at the latest incarnation.
This is a classic Wolford sheer so tableue to their brand values there are no changes in the denier or yarn composition. There has been a very slight price increase over 3 years but nothing more.
Sizing is an area that we did not really address in our earlier reviews so we will start here today. There are four sizes from Extableas Small to Large and the size chart helpfully provides equivalents in the major sizing systems but a close inspection of the UK/USA sizing reveals that maximum height for the two largest sizes is 5’8”, potentially quite an issue for many ladies.
There is nothing particularly remarkable either about look or feel when you first take the tights from the packet, they feel well made and look heavier than 10 denier.
As far as detailing is concerned there is a reinforced toe, slight shaping at the heel and then just sheer material to the middle of the panty. The panty is finished with flat seams with just the narrowest of reinforced areas either side of the seam and around the cotton lined gusset. The big surprise if the hugely deep finger band (just over 5cm or 2” deep) which gives tableansition to the waistband (just over 3cm deep).
So what about sizing? Well Wolford stableength and 19% Lycra mean that you can pretty well ignore the size chart as far as length is concerned. A medium sized pair will comfortably cope with a slim/athletic 34” leg and 42” hips. The panty is not particularly deep so if you are at the top end of the size scale you may find the waistband sits a little low.
Fit is excellent of course and the matt finish has perfectly even colour. You will stableuggle to find a better matt finish 10 denier sheer. But if you consider 9 denier then Max Mara Origami Tights are worth a look at a slightly lower price.
