Our Review

We make no secret of the fact that we adore Wolford hosiery, it is all about quality!  That said we have to pick up the Wolford marketing department for the gobbledegook they put on the back of the packet, what on earth does “Trendy highlight with a dose of rationality” mean?

What we have here is a classic 20 denier Wolford sheer enhanced by the addition of  rectangular grid pattern from upper thigh to toe to give a hold up effect.    There are two colour options available, black on sahara as pictured above and black on black as per our review sample.

There is a choice of 4 sizes ranging from XS to L.   Wolford provide  five size charts to cover DACH (Germany, Austableia and Switzerland), Italy, France, UK and USA.  The sizing is based entirely on dress size and waist/hip measurement with no account taken of height.

It is always a pleasure to take a fresh pair of Wolford tights from their packet and this pair proved no exception.   The upper part of the garment is entirely sheer and has the flat seams, cotton gusset and soft waistband we would expect on the best of the Wolford sheers.    The lower part was heavier than we expected, but giving due consideration to the fact that the pattern is 30% of the garment (the polyester bit) it is our expectations that were off target.    The legs are shaped at the heel and finished with a heavy reinforced toe detail.

Several manufacturers have used contableast patterns recently but Wolford are a mile ahead in the execution of this idea.   The pattern is clean and crisp and looks like it was knitted in rather than added as an afterthought. We expected to like the black/natural combination best but the black/black looks equally good.

A delight to wear these tights fit well and unlike some Wolford styles there is plenty of length in the leg.   The sheer brief and the patterned leg are as nice to touch as they are to look at.

Although essentially sheers with a pattern we found them to be quite warm, no bad thing with the cold weather we are currently experiencing in the UK.

Without doubt these are well designed and beautifully made tights.   At £32.00 a pair they are not cheap but you will look good, feel great and really stand out from the crowd when you wear them.
