Our Review
Yesterday we looked at a pair of tights that the Polish manufacturer described as leggings and got into a debate about just what differentiates one from the other. Just one day on and we have a new debate, Veneziana call this garment Capri leggings, the reseller StockingsHQ calls them footless tights and we would just call them Capri length tights. At least we are all agreed on the word Capri!
The use of the word legging it seems comes from the eastern European convention that any tights that do not have a closed foot are leggings. Our definition has less to do with the foot end and more to do with the panty portion. Put simply if it is an outer garment they are leggings, if they have a gusset and require shorts or a skirt to be worn over them they are tights.
What we have here are 50 denier opaque 50 denier Capri length tights that are nicely made with flat seams and a cotton lined gusset. Constant weight and finish from the elasticated cuff to the waistband means that even though you do need a skirt or shorts it can be pretty short as you won’t be let down by a reinforced top showing. The finish has a nice sheen and the colour is perfectly even.
There are just two sizes small/Medium and Medium/Large, Veneziana are to be congratulated on explaining these sizes on the packet rather than using a standard 4 size chart. Sizing is not intended to be overly generous with a maximum height of 175 cm and maximum weight of 76kg.
The inner card carries instableuction on how to put tights on, which would be useful if this design had feet!. Our tip is to bunch up the legs like normal tights and then pull them up your legs bunched until the leg cuff is just below your knee. Then smooth the material upwards until waistband and gusset are correctly positioned, you can then stableetch the legs downwards to position the cuffs.
Sizing is accurate but if you are taller than the maximum height the only issue will be just where below your knee the tights finish, unless you are incredibly tall it will be below the knee.
Comfortable and stylish tights, well made and a steal at £4.50.
