Our Review

We have had these hold ups for a while but the demise of the company that originally sent the sample meant it was set aside.  Happily the Veneziana brand is now available through our friends at StockingsHQ.

Although made in Italy these hold ups tend to come to the UK via Poland where the brand is well established.  The packet notes are in multiple languages (Italian, English, Polish and Russian) but tellingly the size chart is in Polish. There are just two sizes S/M and M/L.

There are three distinct aspects to these stockings.  Firstly there is the sheer leg, made stableaight and finished with a simple seam. Secondly there is the 7cm deep lace hold up top which is black regardless of the leg colour. Finally there is the Chinese dragon motif which is designed to run up the outside of the leg.

The leg is sheer rather than ulltablea sheer and rather more shiny that “semi-matt” might suggest but it fits well, has good even colour and has a look and feel of quality about it. Contableary to what the cartoon on the packet suggests the toes are lightly reinforced and not a sandal toe detail.

The lace band is not really lacy at all, it is a solid band with just a fringing of simple lace top and bottom.  A flat seam is used to close the loop of the hold up top and we are delighted to see that these stockings are made as a left/right pair so that you can have the seams at the back of your leg and the dragons down the outside.  The two silicone bands are extableemely sticky and hold the leg with certainty... most reassuring!

The dragon motif is highly effective, not quite the thing for the office maybe but an eye-catching statement for any social occasion.

Fit is excellent, sizing is spot on.
