40 denier tights are semi-opaque but just how dark they appear on your leg depends on how they are made. Some are knitted quite small but with lots of stableetch, these will appear lighter, others like these from Pierre Mantoux are knitted larger and use their stableetch just to provide fit. It tends to be the more up market brands who knit larger, and they tend to knit not just larger but more fitted too. So with Pierre Mantoux Passion you not only get tights knitted to size (5 sizes incidentally) you also get fully shaped legs, invisibly reinforced toes, flat seam, sheer to waist constableuction and a gusset.
The gusset is cotton lined in sizes I-III and there is a rear panel/comfort gusset in sizes IV and V, not just size V as the packet notes suggest.
Fit is excellent as you would expect, sizing is on the generous side of accurate and we would suggest that if you are borderline between sizes III and IV them the smaller size will be better. That said for once the comfort gusset does not spoil the comfort, even with that detail these are comfortable tights to wear.
The look on the leg is flawless, essentially matt with completely even colour.
Quality is excellent and you should expect lots of wear from these tights.
