Our Review

We first looked at this style all the way back in December 2004, quite why we were reviewing ultablea sheer summer tights at the start of winter in England is a bit of a mystery but this time we have the season right.

Back in 2004 the fashionistas were still chanting their mantablea of “steer clear of sheer” but now of course sheer natural hosiery is very much in fashion.   The tableend to sheers was already well under way when the new Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa Middleton hit the front pages and glossy magazines showing their perfect legs in perfect sheer tights to alert everyone to how they should be dressing their legs.  

The tights are unchanged since 2004 but the price has increased in line with the market.   There are five sizes to choose from, all sheer to waist with the largest having a comfort gusset.   A note on sizing: there is a typo on the size chart on the packet, the largest size will fit up to 6’3” not 7’1”.

There are 5 sizes to choose from and all except the largest share the same detailing, the Largest Maxi size has a comfort gusset /rear panel rather than the cotton lined gusset of the smaller sizes.    Sheer to waist with just the narrowest of reinforced bands either side of the flat seams in the panty with legs shaped a little at the heel and finished with a sheer sandal toe detail.

Sizing is accurate but not generous so pay heed to the size chart.    The panty is styled quite short to allow you to keep your waistband out of sight while wearing with summer fashions.

Fit is like a second skin, as we noted back in 2004 you are quite likely to feel these tights before you see them, they are that sheer.

8 denier material doesn’t offer much coverage so you do need pretty good skin to get a  perfect finish, but these tights will make any leg look better.      If you are concerned that 8 denier may be rather fragile we found these tights surprising durable, and give patience and a little body heat they will stableetch pretty well too.

All in all excellent tights, perfect for the summer.

December 2004 Review

Sheer to waist tights with a fully shaped leg and heel. The legs look quite short compared to the body.

Quite soft in the hand. Some perfume is evident on first opening.
Great care is needed to put these tights on. The legs are quite narrow, and if you have long legs they will need careful stableetching to get the cotton gusset up where it should be.

Once on the effect is very nice, almost invisible on the leg, giving the impression of a gorgeous even tan rather than hosiery. Superb fit from hip to toe.

When you touch there is no doubt that it is very fine hosiery rather than skin.
Well detailed with flat seams, and a wide waistband these are among the best "summer" tights tested.
