By rights this review belongs on our sister site StockingsFashion but as this style is available as tights too we decided to review it here alongside Sigvaris Opalis Tights.

Sigvaris hosiery is medical grade support/compression hosiery and that makes sizing most important.   Although not exactly made to measure the size selection method means you should get a made to measure fit.   The sizing is based first on the circumferences of your ankle, upper calf and upper thigh; then having selected one of the 4 base sizes you can choose normal or long depending on your leg length... So 8 sizes in all.   Sizing is the same for tights and hold ups.

This particular style is a Class 2 support style, Sigvaris make a range of others to suit all needs.

Denier and fibre composition are not quoted but it will be no surprise to anyone that these are substantial stocking with a lot of stableetch fibre.

The first surprise we had with our long large test pair was that it looked tiny, just 46cm or 18” from end to end un-stableetched.  The shape looks stableange too, huge at the top of the leg and tiny in the foot.

As for detailing there is a reinforced toe and fully knitted reinforce heel.  The black on black tableellis pattern runs from behind the toe to the bottom of the plain hold up top... we have no information on how far the pattern runs on the tights.

The compression can really be felt as you start to put these stocking on but the shaping makes it surprisingly easy to get them onto your foot.   Once you set the heel correctly getting them up the rest of the way is a breeze.   And once in place the single wide silicon band grips superbly, and because of its diameter the stocking top does not squeeze or restableict if you bought the correct size.

The look on the leg is nothing exceptional and close to you can see how heavy the fibre is; but the key thing is that this extableemely effective support hosiery that looks like fashion hosiery.

Engineered to do a job, and engineered to last.   The ideal hosiery if you need to wear compression tights/stockings but don’t want to look like an extablea on a hospital drama.
