Best known for tights made for dancing and skating, and heavy opaque tights, Mondor also make a range of fashion tights “Chic Chic” of which this is one example.
Although made in Canada the fibre mix is straight out of Italy... a very sensible choice that works across the World, so we have high hopes for fit and finish.
First impressions are not great, the tights look small and are made with the most basic detailing, straight unshaped legs finished with square toe seams attached to a plain boxer style brief. On the up side there is a ventilated gusset and a soft waistband.
Things improve markedly one the tights are on your legs, sizing is generous thanks to the stretch of the Lycra and the fit is very good too. Not having a reinforced toe means the pattern runs all the way to the seam, so no restrictions on footwear. The base 15 denier material has good even colour density and is soft to the touch.
The pattern is effective and paired with a black skirt and heels will catch every eye in the room.
You will never get us to like plain boxer briefs, and we don’t like this one... simply cutting up a little on the hip and using flat seams would have moved these tights up several classes.
Whether you should buy these tights comes down to price at the end of the day. At £3-£4 we would say they are great budget addition to your collection of fashion hosiery. If we get pricing information from Mondor w will update this review.
