As the weather turns colder many of us make the swap from sheers to nice warm winter opaques without pausing to think if there is anything in between; 30 denier is seldom much warmer than a sheer and 40 denier with a glossy finish can look a bit like a false leg but here is perhaps a real alternative, a semi-opaque made with microfibre.
We expect microfibre to be light and soft to the touch and these tights don’t disappoint, in all respects they are like a lightweight opaque.
At £2.79 we don’t expect a lot of quality design features and to be honest we don’t find many, other than a cotton lined gusset in the larger sizes there is nothing to make them stand out from the crowd. Straight legs with quite a square lightly reinforced toe, a simple seam in the panty and a plain waistband.
Sizing is spot on and he fit is very good but that is really where the good news ends. On our test pair there was some clear vertical striping in the colour and the boxer style brief is a different knit and finish to the leg. The finish is soft and matt but with a little bit more of that “false leg shine” that we were so afraid of. The toe is not particularly comfortable unless you have quite square ended feet.
Not one of Fiore’s better efforts... cheap and warm yes but there is plenty of hosiery offering the same warmth for similar money.
